Selena Gomez Received Kidney Transplant From Bestie Francia Raisa

What an incredible gift.
As some of you may've noticed, Selena Gomez has been laying low quite a bit this summer. However, on Thursday, the Fetish singer took to Instagram to explain that she has a good reason for being MIA. It appears the former Disney darling needed to get a kidney transplant over complications from her Lupus disease.
Alongside the pic (above), the A-lister shared:
"I'm very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn't promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of. So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health. I honestly look forward to sharing with you, soon my journey through these past several months as I have always wanted to do with you. Until then I want to publicly thank my family and incredible team of doctors for everything they have done for me prior to and post-surgery."
Intense stuff. Regardless, we're just happy that Selly G is doing everything in her power to stay healthy.
The Weeknd's lady also made sure to thank pal Francia Raisa for selflessly donating her kidney. On The Secret Life of the American Teenager actress' generosity, the industry vet added:
"And finally, there aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis. Lupus continues to be very misunderstood but progress is being made."
We're not crying, YOU ARE. We're sure Selena's fans are also grateful for Francia's act of kindness.
Be sure to take a look at the other surgery pics Selena shared online in the gallery (above).

5 Things To Know About Selena Gomez's Kidney Donor Francia Raisa!

Selena Gomez had a secret kidney transplant after her friend Francia Raisa graciously donated hers!
They're bonded for life now!
An Us Weekly source says the two "are the ultimate" bestiez, so it only makes sense for us to share insight into their beautiful and giving friendship!
Here are five things to know about the 29-year-old:
1. They bonded through their faith and culture, with the insider sharing:
"Francia is a wonderful friend with a huge heart. They've thought of each other as sisters, and beyond their obvious bond through work and womanhood, they also share a lot through their faith and being Latina. Francia is incredibly supportive and would provide a shoulder to cry on for any friend in need. She really is a wonderfully special person."
2. They met in 2008 at a Disney and ABC Family (now Freeform) visit to a children's hospital, with Francia telling Latina in 2013:
"Selena and I were in the same group and we just clicked."
3. The actress has so much love for the singer, admitting to Wetpaint in 2012 that she thinks of Selena as family:
"I love her to death. She's my sister and she is one of the sweetest girls I know. She is so caring and so loving and so nurturing. She's awesome. I don't know where she came from."
4. Gomez helped her through a really hard breakup a year ago, dropping everything to be by her side. In an Instagram post (pic above) wishing her friend a happy birthday, Francia was sharing:
"I went through heartbreak this year and you left the studio and drove out of your way to come see me and comfort me. I received good news last month and you facetimed me minutes before you went up on stage just to congratulate me. There are so many moments we have and things you do that I cherish and don't take for granted. Wether its crying, laughing, or simply sitting on my kitchen floor throwing our hands up in the air confused at life, I'm thankful you're always there. I am obsessed with every memory we've built in the last 8 years and the ones we have yet to create. I am so grateful that God put you in my life when he did. If you think about the time that we met and where we were in our lives when we first hung out, his timing was perfect. It's been so inspiring watching you grow and to grow with you. I learn so much from you and I'm so so so proud of you. Happy Birthday Hermana. Love you so so so much @selenagomez"

New Details About Why Francia Raisa Donated Her Kidney To Selena Gomez & How She Kept It A Secret!

Francia Raisa showed just how big her heart is when she donated her kidney to Selena Gomez at her time of need!
The bonded besties have both spoken out about the transplant, which is said to have been done in June at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles.
More details are coming out about their close relationship, and just how they were able to keep the surgery a secret until now.
One source close to Francia told Us Weekly:
"Francia and Selena are like sisters. There's a group of girls who have always stuck close to Selena. Her inner circle is very tight and everyone protects Selena. Francia comes from a big family … Selena is like a sister to her. Selena didn't ask Francia to be tested as a match — Francia is the kind of person who would offer to do that for any one of her friends."
The 29-year-old couldn't have done more for Selena!
Even making sure to keep it a secret, the Dear White People star didn't fill anyone in on who would be receiving her organ:
"Francia told a few people in her inner circle that she was donating one of her kidneys, but no one knew who it was for. A lot of people in their inner circle knew that Francia was undergoing surgery but really didn't ask too many questions."
Still, they weren't "shocked" learning she donated her kidney to the superstar:
"That's how close they are. They've always been very spiritual and into God, and even more so now. They both prayed a lot about this surgery and once Selena's health issues got worse."
Thankfully, it sounds like Francia has already bounced back after the operation:
"Francia is totally fine now, she's back to normal. Francia lives a very healthy lifestyle and she's busy with work. The recovery time for her was very quick."
Selena seems to have recovered as well as she was spotted being active during Fashion Week on top of being on set of an upcoming Woody Allen movie.
We're wishing them good health!

Any Money Changed Hands Between Selena Gomez & Her Daughter!

Francia Raisa's Mother Denies Any Money Changed Hands Between Selena Gomez & Her Daughter!

We are so inspired by the friendship between Selena Gomez and Francia Raisa!
For someone to give up a kidney, literally a part of themselves for their friend — we can hardly imagine!
But in a new interview with Al Rojo Vivo, Francia's mother, Virginia Almendarez, explained the pair are really more like family. She said:
"They've been friends for many years. They're like sisters. I love her a lot, too. She loves me a lot. She says I'm her mom. I'm very proud of both of them."
So how did Virginia react to first learning her daughter's plans? She was afraid, but the more she learned the more she realized everything would be fine:
"Francia Raisa is an adult already, and she makes her own choices. She told me about it, and of course, at first, I was worried, but then she said that she had been thoroughly informed about everything and that she was going to do it. All I could do was support her. People need to know that you can live with one kidney, there are a lot of individuals that get scared to donate to people that need it because they're afraid of never again living a normal life. But there is no danger."
Of course, the pair had the best of care. Francia's mom confirmed Selena rented a house for the friends to live in for a month with "nurses there to care for them":
"Yes, I went there to visit her. Because of my job, I didn't have a lot of time but they were there, and I would go one to two times a week."
In fact, as we've heard, Francia has already recovered!

Momma confirms her girl is already back at work:
"She's actually filming a TV show that's called Grown-ish [a spinoff of Black-ish], and she's just going about her normal life… Thank God they're both doing great. Thankfully the kidney was compatible and that everything came out perfectly."
When asked whether any money changed hands, Almendarez flatly denies it:
"No, not even a single penny. Some people are treating this as if there was money involved. Francia did it for friendship, for her love for Selena, and because they care a lot for each other. She didn't receive any benefit from this, only the benefit of Selena having a better life."
So amazing!
And of course Selena's mother Mandy Teefey thought so, too! Virginia says when the two moms finally saw one another they simply hugged, Mandy saying:
"I don't know what to say."
Virginia says the surgery has (understandably) brought the two friends closer together:
"The love between them has really grown. Selena is a great girl, and she also has a big heart, as does Francia. I'm very proud of both of them. Francia has a huge heart because not anyone would just let go of one of their organs to give it to someone else."
No kidding! A huge heart and compatible kidneys! What a perfect friend!
